West Coast

After our crossing from Vancouver Island to Port Angeles we spent three rather cool nights in La Push, where we prepared for the next few days. The short stopover in Westport, where we were asked what we were being offered at this time of the year, did not seem to have paid off. It was very quiet. The main season has already been over for some time.
At the Cape Disappointment, the name was program. A dark sea of clouds in the sky and water in our shoes allowed us to move on quickly. The motto was to head south. But not without a stopover in the dense forests of Washington and Oregon. The Silver Falls were definitely worth the trip.
Thanks to Beat for the tip, which led us to the Lost Coast. At times we were not sure whether we would bring the van as a whole back down to the coast, but the roads were so bad. But Douglas seemed to be able to handle it better than we were. It more than paid off. A perfect panorama and first test flights with our drone.
In the Redwoods, the giant trees have made us speechless. Avenue of the Gigants is a must.
The journey took us further along the highway 1 along breathtaking coastal stretches, over the Golden Gate Bridge to San Francisco. Here we visited our friend Simu, had a great day of paddle boarding and the best Indonesian dinner for a long time. After three days in San Francisco we finally landed in the beautiful and warm Santa Cruz, where we found our long awaited surf equipment. In the Morro Bay we were able to ride the first waves on our new surfboards. We've waited a long time for this!
Via Santa Barbara to Los Angeles we are now in San Diego after about 6 weeks and live in the van in San Diego. In the meantime we have left more than 5'000km behind us. The long and sometimes strenuous journeys in our old VW bus as well as the always short stays at the respective places are slowly but surely noticeable. We long for longer breaks in the same place and above all time for surfing and staying.
We are ready for Mexico, lots of sun and good waves - tacos y tequila.
